Shotgun + Melee Combos

If you've ever been grabbed by a majini or frozen by nitrogen round and someone walked up and shot you and kicked you and you instantly died, that's what this is.

The first one is shotgun + melee when grabbed by a majini. If a majini or any enemy for that matters is holding your opponent, you have the option to press 'B' and perform a melee attack on them. However, this only does moderate damage. If you have a shotgun equipped, you can Shoot them with the shotgun once and immediately after firing the shotgun, press 'B' to follow up with a melee. This will instantly kill the opponent or put them into dying status. You can do this tactic with any gun, however it's most effective with a shotgun to guarantee they end up in dying status or dead.

The other version of this doesn't require a majini, but it requires two other things instead. First you need a Grenade Launcher with Nitrogen rounds inside of it. Secondly, you need a control type that uses RT to fire a gun instead of X. Any control type (Like Control Type A for example) that has 'X' as its fire button will be unable to perform the full combo.

Alls you need do is simply land a nitrogen round on an opponent to freeze them in place. When you run up to them you'll get the prompt to press 'X' to melee them. With Majini the prompt is 'B' because it's 'helping' them thus it uses the partner button. With the nitrogen round, it's 'X' for an actual melee.

Once they're frozen, shotgun them by pressing RT to fire and then immediately follow up by pressing 'X' to melee them and instantly kill them or put them into dying.

If you're using a control type that has 'X' as it's fire button, you're simply going to melee them rather than fire the shotgun at them, so it won't work.

However, all is not lost in that instance. If you use Control Type A for example, simply melee them then run up to them and shotgun them as they're getting up off the ground. One single shot from almost any gun will put them into dying after they've finished the getting up animation. So while it requires slight more work, you can still virtually perform the same damage even with Control Type A.



Update: You can in fact peform these combos using Control Type A and other types that have X as the fire button.

"With A or C, you freeze them, run up to them and aim, quickswap to your weapon of choice, and hold the X button while switching to fire the weapon. When the weapon fires, you let go of X and press it again to do the melee. I use type A controls and have no trouble doing this consistently."
