-EXPERIMENTAL FACILITY ELEVATOR-
One more little note about the Elevator, you are 'almost' invincible when you are inside the elevator. You cannot be hit inside of the elevator when the doors close except through the exposed top. So use that to your advantage. You are protected from the sides and back as well while inside it even if the doors are open. But, there is more room for error when the doors are open and you can get hit from time to time. And obviously, if they come at you from the front, you will get hit.
However, splash damage still does count. If someone explodes a rocket on top of the elevator there is a CHANCE you can get put into dying status from the splash damage. It's not a guarantee however. But, bullets themselves cannot penetrate the elevator when it's closed in most cases. It's a 95% invulnerability. However, it IS possible to get hit from inside the elevator when the doors are closed due to lag or if they penetrate the top of the elevator. However, it is rare.
Also, if someone runs into the elevator to escape, as long as you run up to it as the doors are closing, you will stop the doors from closing and open them back up again, allowing yourself a chance to get inside the elevator with the opponent and potentially wreck havoc on them as there's no where for them to go now.
On the same token, if the opponent manages to get away and close the doors to the elevator successfully. If you stand in front of the spot where it says 'Invesitgate' and mash on your action button repeatedly to call the elevator, you can often get the elevator to close its doors the second they open and prevent the opponent from escaping to the top floor. Instead you can force the
elevator to ride them back down to you, where you can have a shotgun or whatever waiting for them the moment the doors open.
You can also stand in the doorway on purpose to prevent other players from calling the Elevator. If you rode the Elevator downstairs and the other team is trying to follow you, you can stand in the doorway to prevent the doors from closing. They'll close on you then re-open, stunning you momentarily, but if you run back into the doorway and keep this up, it'll force them to go the long way to get to you. This gives you an advantage in forcing your opponents to come from one single direction instead of splitting up and going two ways at once. Thus you can set traps for them on their way down.
Lastly, whenever entering the Elevator, remember to check it first. Most players will plant Proximity mines inside the elevator on the sides of the door so they are hard to see. If you walk into the elevator you will instantly trigger them and be blown up. So always remember to wait and check that the elevator is safe before entering it. Also be careful when exiting the Elevator. Often times players will plant a proximity mine on the floor in front of the elevator. So when you ride up and the doors open, you trigger the mine. To avoid this, simply stay in the back of the elevator and if the door opens and a mine is laying there, simply close the doors and ride back down/up and exit to avoid triggering the mine.
