Proper Use of Grenade Launchers

The majority of new players to the game enjoy levels with Grenade Launchers because of how easy they are to spam. Spamming means firing the same round over and over and over for easy points and kills.

However, most newbies don't realize that Grenade Spamming, while effective, is NOT your best option when using a Grenade Launcher. Explosive rounds for example require 4 blasts to actually kill someone. The first round will send them flying back, a second one while they're on the ground will take some life, a third one as they're getting up will take life, and a fourth one is required to finish them off. However, in the time you're spamming these rounds, the other player is invulernable to being sent flying for a few seconds. So even though you're sending more explosives at them and hurting them, they can still stand up and fire a magnum or rocket at you and potentially kill you before you kill them.

So while Grenade Spam may seem like the easy way out, it's actually one of the worst tactics you can perform. A far better tactic is to use the grenade launcher as a stun and nothing more. Fire your explosive round which will send the opponent flying back to the floor. Now immediately switch to a magnum for example and shoot them as they're getting up. Fire a second shot the moment they're standing and they will enter dying with little chance to attack you in return.

On the same token, you can fire an explosive round then run up to them and pump a shotgun blast into them as they're standing up and another one after they've finished standing. In both instances they have little to no time to return fire on you. While it's still possible, it's far less likely and far more convenient than simply tossing explosive rounds non-stop at them. The Grenade Launcher has a lag inbetween each shot. And again, the opponent is invulnerable to being knocked down for at least 5 seconds after they get back up from the first stun. Therefore while you're tossing more explosives at them, they have free reign to get a shot on you as well, which again could potentially kill you depending.

The same rules apply for flame rounds and electric rounds. Use one as a stun, then follow up with another weapon to finish the player off before they can react.

Even a handgun followup can often times be far more effective than spamming grenade rounds. If someone is sent flying back from an explosive round and you immediately switch to a handgun and pump bullets into their head as they're trying to get up, they will almost immediately be put into dying upon standing up as the handgun has a fast fire rate and being knocked to the floor has a very long animation that gives you plenty of time to kill them before they get back up.

So again, follow up with other guns, don't spam grenade rounds repeatedly.
