Shaking off Enemies

SHAKING OFF ENEMIES

This isn't exactly an 'advanced' tactic, but, so many new players have difficulty with this that I feel it's something they definately need to learn and refine like most of the AT's listed.

Very often you'll get grabbed by a majini or a boss and have your health drained, or spend a very long time being held against your will, leaving you open to attack. Most players simply mash on the Analog stick like crazy trying to get the enemy off of them, and most fail miserably.

The simplest and easiest way to get an enemy off of you within 3-5 seconds at best and to lose little to no health in the process is simply to Rotate the Left Analog Stick counter clockwise at a brisk pace. It sounds simple enough, but, many people will complain they do this and it doesn't work. But, here's why. For most of you, when you get grabbed, you panic. And you're too concerned with speed on the analog stick that you forget about precision. Therefore your twisting that stick fast sure, but, you're doing it 'too' fast and in a panic'd state that you're not getting full circular motions going. Your motions are more hectic that precise, which is why the game doesn't register it, and you don't get out of your hold as fast.

If you simply place your thumb on the stick and start from right and rotate a full circle with it and maintain that full circle motion throughout, you should be able to get 2 full circles per second. If you're having trouble with it, simply practice it at a slower rate to get the motion down, and then increase your speed little by little. You don't need to play the game to try this. You can do it offline with your controller. Alls it takes is training your thumb to move precisely while maintaining a steady pace. You want to control it, not make it erratic.

If you can get the motion and the pace down, you will even be able to get out of the Executioners hold when he holds you in the air. Instead of slamming you to the floor and prompting you for a QTE event to avoid dying, he will simply drop you on your feet and stumble back moaning as if he got hit.

So if you're being held by a majini for more than 3-5 seconds or an Executioner is slamming you to the floor on your back, you're doing it wrong. Just practice and you'll get it with time.

Also note, you can get out of any hold or grapple this way EXCEPT for the Lickers who jump on you and put you on the floor. You cannot get out of that hold without a partners assistance. You can however get out of their tongue lash though.
