Spike Traps

-SPIKE TRAPS-

Spike Traps are one of the most dangerous traps in the game because they are an instant kill. However, they're balanced by the fact that a player is required to be standing by the switch to activate them in order to use them. Simply shooting them won't trigger them. You can however often bait players into using the trap by walking close to it and immediately moving away before you are too close. This will often make most players kick the button and trigger them. The trap has a delay time after being activated before it can be used again, and you cannot get hurt simply by standing in front of the spikes that are already up. So you can bait someone into using the trap prematurely and then run at the spikes until they descend them simply run past the trap and into the area you wish to go without having to worry about getting caught in it. Just make sure you run 'past' the trap and not stay on it.

Spike Traps count as a melee, therefore you can use a spike trap on a player to put them into dying status and then use it again to finish them off rather than rush them down to try and melee them personally. There are only 2 levels with Spike Traps.

Spike Trap Locations:

(Please Note: Trap Switches are linked to specific traps. Therefore, you cannot kick Switch 1 and have it activate Trap 2. It will only activate trap 1)

Village:

Trap 1: Right in front of the giant bridge, right behind the burning monument in the center of the level

Trap Switch 1: Right above the giant bridge on the second floor

Trap 2: Directly to the left of the giant bridge and Trap #1, in the entrance to the giant boarded off circular area.

Trap Switch 2: Directly behind the bridge just above the ladder to the little hut where you find the S&W Magnum in the main game

-Experimental Facility-

Trap: On the second floor of the level just below the long ramp and before the small platforms you can jump on section. The giant cage in the center with holes in the floor is the trap.

Trap Switch: On the front of the cage on the left
